Parents use a variety of local registered Childminders. Before and after school childcare provided by outside providers: 'Smiz Kids', 'Phoenix Nursery' and 'Woodville Day Nursery'. Links to Pre-school group in Blackfordby Village Hall. 'The Star Walker' scheme involves 95% of the children walking to school from a central village location (as a result a 'Walking Bus' will be introduced in 2008 Spring term).
Limited Activities. 'School Walks' have been introduced on a Tuesday afternoon for Foundation and Year 1 Children. Thursday afternoon the 'whole' school walks to local Village Hall for P.E. School has excellent links with North West Leics. Sports Partnership. (Outdoor Pursuits, Football Coaching). Other activities are provided by outside agencies, David Hunt Soccer School - In 2 Sports - Local Gymnastic Club (free sessions in school resulting in several children joining club). Joint outings, visits with Moira Infants. Links to National Forest, Tree planting etc.
Home visits to every child by teacher and nurse prior to starting school. 'Welcome afternoon' for new parents. Parents on NVQ childcare course on placement in school. Active PTNA Partnership, arranging events etc.
Excellent links to specialist services, Educational Psychologist, student support etc. Familiar with CAF and referral to Multi-agency forum.
Use of school - restricted. Local church use room for meetings. Good links to community: Age Concern, school visits, Harvest Festival, Christmas Carol Service at Staunton Harold.
