Relate have a family liaison counsellor funded by extended schools who is available to work with families from this school who have issues that may impact on children. As part of the Extended Services offer of parenting support, Ashby Family of Schools now employ a Parent Support Adviser (PSA)
Our Parent Support Adviser is Michelle White who will provide a link between parents and schools. Michelle can offer early intervention, preventative support, guidance and advice to families whose children may be experiencing difficulties or other issues at school. Michelle will work with school in partnership with parents, carers and other agencies to improve the outcomes for individual children. If you feel that your family may benefit from the services of the Parent Support Adviser or you simply want to find out more information please contact your school.

Stay and Play goes from strength to strength
Our Stay and Play sessions on a Wednesday afternoon has proved very popular with children and parents alike, numbers have grown steadily throughout the year.
Garden for Life Project.
Our school garden is looking great, we have had tremendous support from parents and families and our team of young gardeners have been working well.
Reception class enjoys new equipment.
School have received a grant from our Locality Partnership Group through extended services to purchase outdoor play equipment for our Reception Class. The new items are very popular with the children.
Family Learning Session at Little Pelicans
At our successful Wednesday afternoon stay and play session, a group of Mums are engaging in a family learning session called STORY SACKS, where children start to read books with Mum in preparation for school. Whilst the Mums are receiving training, Creche workers are with the children. The Pictures below are from a recent session.
Breakfast Club a success
Liz Wilcox and her team are catering for up to 20 children every morning at Breakfast Club. Children eat a hearty breakfast followed by activities and are raring to go when the bell sounds. All children are very welcome to come along and can just turn up on the day.
Little Pelicans Xmas Party
The highlight of this years party was a surprise appearance by Santa. The children and their families had the time of their lives, enjoying the singing, games and party food. Well Done to everyone involved.
Choir at Night at the Movies Concert
Ashby School organised a joint concert at Ivanhoe College, where four primary school choirs joined the Ashby School, Ivanhoe and Ibstock orchestras to perform themes from the Movies. A great experience for our singers to perform in front of a 300 strong audience.
Students at Ivanhoe for Science Day
Our students had a thoroughly enjoyable experience learning about science in a fun and practical way with Ivanhoe Students. We were part of 400 primary school children who attended Ivanhoe over three days.
After School - Hands on Science at Ivanhoe
Some of our Year 6 pupils were able to attend the Science Dept at Ivanhoe after school for the first of two Hands on Science taster sessions. A very enjoyable session, see pictures below.
