Parents use a variety of local Ofsted Registered Child Minders and Private Childcare Providers. School has excellent links with local pre-school providers.

School has regular information sessions for parents.

School has excellent links with Specialist Services for those children who need additional support. School has access to Family Liason workers through the Ashby Family of Schools agreement with Relate Leicestershire. School has access to the local Multi Agency Forum through the CAF procedure for children who require additional support.

School is the site for a Connect Centre through Leicestershire County Council as a contact point for the local community.

Relate have a family liaison counsellor funded by extended schools who is available to work with families from this school who have issues that may impact on children. As part of the Extended Services offer of parenting support, Ashby Family of Schools now employ a Parent Support Adviser (PSA)

Our Parent Support Adviser is Michelle White who will provide a link between parents and schools. Michelle can offer early intervention, preventative support, guidance and advice to families whose children may be experiencing difficulties or other issues at school. Michelle will work with school in partnership with parents, carers and other agencies to improve the outcomes for individual children. Wall of Activities

Cookery Club goes from strength to strength

Our after school cookery club has proved so popular with the children that we now have two weekly sessions. The children really enjoy learning about and preparing healthy meals, then taking it home for their families to enjoy.

WARNING ZONE COMES TO SCHOOL

Our children spent a morning with the Warning Zone team. The topics were Safe Decision Making and Criminal Responsibility, the children were shown a film, then dealt with different scenarios relating to, Anti Social Behaviour, Peer Pressure,Taking Risks and Safe Decision Making. Many valuable lessons were learned during these enjoyable sessions. Pictured below are the children taking part.

Reception Class outdoor equipment

Through Extended Schools and the North West District Locality Partnership Group our Reception Class has some brand new outdoor play equipment. The pictures show the children enjoying their play time.

BUSY FRIDAYS AFTER SCHOOL

Oakthorpe school is buzzing after school on a Friday, there is Drama Club in the Hall, Maths Study Support in the I.T. Room and the Wildlife Club outside at our new pond and decking area. See pictures below.

CLUBS COMPLETE AT OAKTHORPE

Our school was open during the Easter Holidays to enable the children to take part in the Get Creative Holiday Activities run by Clubs Complete. Pictured below are some of the children taking part.
