Parents use local child minders and private providers for childcare. We have an outside provider who use our school site for after school childcare. For more information go to the Home Page on this website and click the Childcare Box for information about local childcare from the Family Information Service. Walking Bus to school organised by Mums.
School has a very active PTA. School has regular information sessions for Parents, we have informal afternoon sessions with Governors. Parents have access to Fun and Families Course
School has excellent links with specialist services, i.e. Educational Psychology, Speech Therapists etc. for children who need additional support. Parents have access through the Ashby Family of Schools agreement for referral to Relate Leicestershire for extra Family Liaison Support. We also have access to the local Multi-Agency Forum through the CAF system of referral.

As part of the Extended Services offer of parenting support, Ashby Family of Schools now employ a Parent Support Adviser (PSA)

Our Parent Support Adviser is Michelle White who will provide a link between parents and schools. Michelle can offer early intervention, preventative support, guidance and advice to families whose children may be experiencing difficulties or other issues at school. Michelle will work with school in partnership with parents, carers and other agencies to improve the outcomes for individual children. If you feel that your family may benefit from the services of the Parent Support Adviser or you simply want to find out more information please contact your school.

Wall of Activities

Children at Warning Zone Road Show

The Warning Zone Road Show came to Griffydam School and our Year 6 children joined others from Viscount Beaumont and Griffydam in a very enjoyable safety experience.

Reception class has new equipment

Through extended services and our Locality Partnership Group we have been able to purchase new outdoor play equipment for the children in our Reception Class. The children really enjoy playing the new outdoor games.

Garden Club Area

With extended services money we have been able to develop an area at the top of the field for a Garden Club area. The children have enjoyed learning about the plants and growing them.

African Day at School

School spent a whole day learning all about African Music, Dance and Art. Our visitors were great and everyone enjoyed the whole experience of learning about different cultures, as can be seen in the pictures below.

Community Lunch at School

We have started to invite members of our community into school for lunch with the children. This is a great experience for everybody involved and will continue on a regular basis.
