Welcome to Extended School's Website
An extended school is one that provides a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of its pupils, their families and the wider community.
The Ashby Family of Schools has a membership of 16 schools. All schools are situated either in Ashby town centre or the surrounding rural areas. The sizes of the schools vary from very small rural primary schools, with less than 100 pupils on the roll, to two large secondary schools that together have over 2,500 pupils. The total number of pupils attending all schools in the Family exceeds 4,600. The ages of pupils range from the Foundation Stage to Post 16 Sixth Form. Taking these factors in consideration and then adding the issues surrounding transport and the availability of facilies at schools, it becomes clear that the needs and requirements when established extended school services will differ greatly from school to school.
Extended Services or Extended Schools provide a range of services and activities to help achieve better outcomes
for children, young people and their families. A good cross section of activities and services already exist and we have
to build upon, improve and extend these solid foundations.
